Aging Lawyers, Committee on
This special committee will study and recommend guidelines and protocols to respond to and assist age-impaired lawyers, including proposing solutions and best practices for attorney grievance committees, the courts and the Bar.

Auction Rate Bond Investment
This special committee will study and advise the Executive and Finance Committees on its current auction rate investments, and in particular, the Bar's investment policy in general.

Business Court
This special committee shall monitor the performance of the Business Court pilot project, perform a liaison function between the Court, the Bar, and Georgia's business community, and report to the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors on its advice and recommendations.

Evidence Study
This special committee shall provide advice, counsel, expertise and support to the Executive Committee, the Board of Governors, and the General Assembly regarding proposed legislation reforming Georgia evidence law based on the Federal Rules of Evidence to promote the goals of fairness, predictability and, where appropriate, uniformity.

Indigent Defense
This special committee monitors the progress and funding for Georgia's Public Defender Standards Council and works in conjunction with the Advisory Committee on Legislation, the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors to provide advice, expertise and advocacy on behalf of systemic reform designed to satisfy the State's constitutional obligation to provide adequate counsel for indigent persons accused of crime.

International Trade in Legal Services
This special committee shall monitor the impact of international developments on the legal profession, including, but not be limited to the effect of, the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), other free trade agreements having an impact on delivery of legal services, changes in the regulation of the legal profession in foreign countries that may have local impact, and all other events affecting the delivery of legal services across international borders. It shall consider these matters from both the perspective of outbound legal services delivered in foreign countries by member lawyers and inbound delivery of legal services in this State by foreign lawyers. The committee shall also consider any international issues as requested by, and make reports and recommendations concerning its activities to, the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors.

Judiciary, Committee on
This special committee shall protect the rule of law and the independence of fair and impartial courts by monitoring the judicial system through long-term strategic planning and make recommendations to the Advisory Committee on Legislation and the Executive Committee on judicial selection and matters affecting the adequacy of judicial compensation.

Juror Privacy and Safety
This special committee shall study the public disclosure of jurors' names and addresses as it relates to their privacy and safety. It may recommend 2009 legislation if the committee feels it appropriate for the protection of Georgia citizens and the right to trial by jury.

Lawyer Advertising Task Force
The District Panels of this special Task Force shall serve as an agency of the Bar receiving confidential complaints about lawyer advertising and business solicitation practices and forward such complaints as they deem appropriate to the Office of General Counsel for investigation and any appropriate enforcement action.

Legal Education Study Committee
This special committee shall advise the Executive Committee with regard to the educational standards for admission to the practice of law in Georgia. It shall prepare a written paper and otherwise assist the officers in their presentation of the Bar's position on this matter.

Post-Conviction Capital Representation
This special committee deals with matters relating to the post conviction of defendants in capital cases and reports any recommendations to the Board of Governors.

Pro Bono for Military Veterans & Service Members
This special committee is charged with responsibility for: (1) overseeing and advising the Bar's consultant on the design of a proposed program to facilitate the pro bono representation of veterans and service members in addressing their unmet legal needs; and (2) advising the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors on the program design process and planning for implementation.

Savannah Office
This special committee will assist in the establishment of a State Bar of Georgia satellite office in Savannah.
