Georgia Voted Best YLD at ABA Meeting
The State Bar of Georgia's Young Lawyers Division was recently
awarded the highest honor given to young lawyer divisions across the
country, Aug. 5 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the American Bar
Association's Annual Meeting.
The ABA Awards of Achievement Program is designed to encourage
project development by recognizing the time, effort and skills
expended by young lawyer organizations in implementing public and
bar service projects in their communities. The Georgia YLD was
recognized as the best overall YLD in the country, placing first in

Important Information about the Spring Board of
Governors Meeting Optional Trip
Please be aware that if you
are attending the optional trip to Bermuda following the Spring 2007
Board of Governors Meeting, you will need to ensure you have a valid
passport at the time of travel. The meeting is scheduled for April
12 - 15, 2007. If you do not already have a passport valid through
the month of April, please apply for or renew your passport by Jan.
8, 2007.

Georgia Court of Appeals Centennial
Celebration Dinner
The Georgia Court of Appeals
Centennial Celebration Dinner will be held Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at
6:30 p.m. at the Georgia Aquarium. The Hon. William R. Wilson Jr.,
U.S. District Judge, Eastern District of Arkansas will be the
featured speaker. Tickets are $125 and include access to the
aquarium exhibits after dinner, a copy of the Court's centennial
documentary video, a soon-to-be published history book, and two
complementary drinks during the cocktail hour. The deadline to

Casemaker Training Available Sept. 19 and
28 -- Sign Up Today!
Learn how to effectively use and
navigate the Georgia Casemaker library. Two training classes are
being offered at the Bar Center on September 19 and 28 from 10:00
a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each session is
limited to the first 10 attendees. Download the registration form, and fax it to Kim
Henry at 404-287-8394 by 12 p.m. the day before the class is

State Bar Campaign for Georgia Legal
Services Kicks Off
Be counted among your peers with
your gift to the "And Justice for All" State Bar Campaign for
Georgia Legal Services Georgia Legal Services celebrates its 35th
anniversary this year with a campaign goal to achieve participation
from every Bar member in the state by December 31. Whether you are

Justice Robert Benham Awards for Community
Service: Call for Nominations
The Community Service
Awards Selection Committee and the State Bar of Georgia invite
nominations for the Eighth Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards for
Community Service. Awards will be presented at a special ceremony in
Atlanta in January 2007.
Judges and lawyers meet the criteria for these awards if they
have combined a professional career with outstanding service and
dedication to their communities through voluntary participation in
community organizations, government-sponsored activities, or
humanitarian work outside of their professional practice.
Contributions may be made in any field, including but not limited
to: social service, education, faith-based efforts, sports,
recreation, the arts, or politics.
All nominations must be postmarked by Oct. 2, 2006. For more
