Commitment to Equality Awards
The Women & Minorities in the Profession Committee of the State Bar of
Georgia is accepting nominations
for the 2008 Commitment to Equality Awards. The award recognizes the
efforts of lawyers and legal employers who are committed to providing
opportunities that foster a more diverse legal profession for women and
minorities in the state of Georgia. Awards are presented to lawyers who not
only personally excel in their own practice, but who have demonstrated a
commitment to promoting diversity in the legal profession. Nominations must
be received by the committee on or before Oct. 15.

Update
on 2008 "And Justice for All" GLSP Campaign
Help us reach our goal! State Bar President Gerald M. Edenfield has
recommended a campaign goal of $500,000 to be reached by Dec. 31. A total
of 2,578 donors have contributed $332,000. More than 35,000 Bar members
have not made their contributions yet. Every gift counts! Your support
helps GLSP handle critical civil legal cases for low-income Georgians. Your
gift is as critical now as ever. For 36 years, GLSP has provided rural,
low-income families and individuals with high quality services by lawyers trained
in poverty law. Family violence, housing, health care, education,
employment, consumer fraud, and more are the types of cases GLSP handles
every day. GLSP’s mission to provide access to justice and opportunities
out of poverty for Georgians with low-incomes is still vital to our
communities. GLSP Executive Director Phyllis J. Holmen says, "Our
Bar’s advertisements say that 'Justice for All' is a promise worth keeping.
GLSP honors that promise for thousands of clients every year. Help us make a
difference!" Give online, or mail your check to the Georgia
Legal Services Program, State Bar Center, 104 Marietta St., Suite 250,
Atlanta, GA 30303. Gifts of $250 or more are recognized in the Georgia
Bar Journal. All gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed
by law.

Thinking About Voice Recognition Software?
Some voice recognition software boasts a 98 percent accuracy rating. While
those claims may well be true for the vendor, this may not be the case for
others. "Training" the software and a fast computer processor are
required to attain such accuracy. When looking at voice recognition software,
look at recommended system requirements and then double the requirements to
ensure your hardware can handle the software.
