Pro Bono Nursing Consultants
We have a new program to help Legal Services staff attorneys and our volunteer lawyers analyze health-related cases- the Pro Bono Nurse Consultants. We're starting out small, but hope to build up the program. While the consultants are in metro-Atlanta, with today's technology the nurses can help you out no matter where you are in the state.
The nurses have volunteered to help analyze and research disability and general medical issues as they relate to unemployment, SSI, ADA, or prescription drug cases, or other issue. They can assist you in developing your case with written reports and summaries. They are also SSA-certified medical consultants. They are very eager to help!
Contact me by phone (404/527-8762) or by e-mail (mike@gabar.org)if you would like to take advantage of this program. I will set you up with one of the consultants. In order to request a consultant, you must prepare a brief case summary including a description of the medical issue you would like to discuss with the nurse. You must also provide detailed contact information, including phone and e-mail. I will provide you with a very brief form for this information. Once I receive the form from you, I will provide you with the contact information. After the work is done, I will ask you to fill out another (brief) form asking you about your satisfaction with the service and about the contribution of the nurse to the outcome of your case.
