The Young Lawyers Division has been strengthened over the years through guidance by the State Bar of Georgia, its Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the Supreme Court, and through dedicated service rendered by its members. In keeping with its motto of "working for the profession and the public," the YLD more than 30 hard-working committees that provide service to the public, the profession and the Bar through an array of projects and programs. Through the years, the YLD has also gained national recognition by winning several American Bar Association awards for its projects and publications.

Georgia's Women Lawyers 100th Anniversary Celebration
Please join the YLD Women in the Profession Committee for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the first woman to be licensed to practice law in Georgia, at the Bar Center on Aug. 24. The evening includes a short commemorative film, refreshments, a dramatic reading and an exhibit documenting the achievements of women lawyers in Georgia since the Supreme Court of Georgia decision in Ex Parte Hale and An Act to Permit Females to Practice Law in 1916. Succession Planning Pilot Program
The Succession Planning Pilot Program seeks to connect Georgia attorneys who intend to transition out of full-time practice with new attorneys and recent graduates who may be interested in succeeding the attorney. Eligible participants include licensed attorneys and new attorneys graduating from law school during the prior three years, but may be expanded depending on needs.
