Why you should attend

The Professional Liability Section is proud to present the 5th Annual Seminar - “Not Your Typical CLE: What We Have Is Failure to Communicate.” It is a live, interactive seminar featuring excerpts from a mock legal malpractice trial based on a real case from another jurisdiction. First we will present a vignette to set the stage for the trial. Then, after hearing opening statements, some direct and cross examinations of the plaintiff and defendant and their experts, and closing arguments, the seminar room is divided into three mock juries and asked to deliberate over lunch. We then ask each jury to discuss how it reached its verdict. Afterwards, we have an Professionalism Panel discussion, “A View From the Bench,” where Betsy Hodges will discuss professionalism hypotheticals with Judges Sara Doyle, Robert McBurney, Eric Richardson and Emily Richardson. Finally, the day concludes with an ethics presentation titled “What Would Paula Frederick Do.” Douglas Chandler discusses ethics hypotheticals with Paula. This is a serious seminar with a bit of humor thrown in. You may recognize some of the characters in the trial from “The Office.”

Space is limited. ICLE cannot guarantee admission to onsite registrants. Early registration closes 48 hours before the seminars held at State Bar of Georgia offices. Materials for these courses are provided in digital form. Meals may not be available for walk in registrants.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations reaching ICLE by 5PM the day before the seminar date will receive a registration fee refund less a $25.00 administrative fee. Otherwise, the registrant will be considered a “no show” and will not receive a registration fee refund. ICLE will email a digital link to class materials to every “no show.” As a courtesy to speakers and other attendees in this educational setting, we do not allow children at seminars.
