Proposed Changes to the Disciplinary Rules

At its meeting on April 1, 2017, the Board of Governors approved proposed revisions to the procedural rules for disciplinary cases. Notice of the proposed change will be published in the June issue of the Georgia Bar Journal and the Bar will file a Motion to Amend with the Supreme Court of Georgia 30 days thereafter.

You may download a copy of the Executive Summary that contains information regarding all of the proposed changes here. Also available are a red-line version highlighting the changes in addition to a clean version of the document.

The power point that was presented to the Board of Governors during the 2017 Midyear Meeting is available for download and may be helpful in highlighting the proposed changes.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact General Counsel Paula Frederick at paulaf@gabar.org. You may also contact the Office of the General Counsel if you are interested in scheduling an Ethics CLE regarding the proposals for your local bar group.

The changes are not final unless and until the Court enters an order approving them.
